Recruit Passing Out Parade

Wing Commander Paul Mimpress, Officer Commanding Hertfordshire & Buckinghamshire Wing recently visited 1239 (Broxbourne & Hoddesdon) Squadron as the Reviewing Officer for the Recruit Intake 1/14 Passing Out parade.

The Passing Out parade was the culmination of a twelve-week training programme covering a variety of subjects and assessments ranging from the history and organisation of the Air Training Corps to map reading and from drill to radio communications amongst other aviation related subjects.

The evening started with a formal parade where the cadets were inspected. After the inspection, those cadets who had successfully completed their recruit training were presented with their certificates and first class cadet badges as their proud parents and families looked on.

Following the presentations and a speech by Wing Commander Mimpress, light refreshments were served at the Squadron headquarters where parents had the opportunity to speak to Wing Commander Mimpress and the Squadron staff.

Flight Lieutenant Mark Richards, Officer Commanding 1239 Squadron commented "the cadets have done really well during their recruit training and have now successfully completed the necessary training and assessment to have achieved first class cadet status. They will now go on to study more technical aspects of the Corps syllabus and develop their knowledge and understanding of a number of aviation and navigation related subjects. Well done to all recipients".
