From Cadets to Captain

Air Cadets and Staff from 1239 (Broxbourne & Hoddesdon) Squadron recently had the pleasure of welcoming former Commanding Officer and now British Airways Captain, Spencer Norton back to the Squadron to give a presentation on how the Air Cadet Organisation has helped him to achieve his ambitions and to tell of his life as an airline pilot. Cadets were encouraged that in today's very challenging job market, Air Cadet service can be the ticket to a successful outcome in a job interview.

Following the presentation, Cadets were then invited to ask Captain Norton questions in a question and answer session. Cadet Sergeant James Wingate said "I've always dreamed of becoming a pilot and meeting Captain Norton has helped me to keep my dreams alive and focus on working hard at school and in cadets to achieve my best".

Captain Norton commented on the evening, "I had a fantastic few years in the Cadets when I was a teenager and I firmly believe that I wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for the skills and techniques I developed during my time in the Air Training Corps. I cannot recommend it enough for young people wishing to go not only into aviation but any profession!"
